Although audiobookshelf can detect and download your books metadata, I do not rely on that. You should be able to reach the interface on port 80 of the container. Then you only care about the audiobook folder, where you put your audiobooks.
Just fire up the docker image like they say here: so you map external folders to the docker image. I don't remember settling anything special for it.
